WHERE ON EARTH IS PIGEON ISLAND? Pigeon Island is a small (6 acre/24000 sq m) island in the Reef Island group, part of the Solomon Islands, off the north-east coast of Australia. This remote group of islands has a population of 5000, with two languages, 'Reefs' (Aiwoo) and a Polynesian language. There are few mosquitoes on Pigeon Island because of its distance from the mainland. Birdlife is plentiful, including little red "money-birds", lorikeets and pigeons. WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE? The climate is subtropical, so warm November to March, and a little cooler in the trade wind season, April to October. Cyclones occur occasionally during the warm season.
