An Invitation to join us The Swanage Residents Association is a voluntary community service and has existed since the early 50's. It is registered with the Civic Trust and is entirely non party-political or sectarian. It is a pressure group on those occasions considered necessary, but its main aim is to develop constructive suggestions which are judged to be in the long term interests of Swanage and it's residents. These interests are open to discussion at the Quarterly Open Executive Committee Meetings to which all members are invited and are written up in the regular newsletters (The Swanage Independent). The Executive Committee consists of the six officers and up to nine other elected members. The officers retire automatically at the AGM following their election but can stand for re-election. The other members of the Committee retire in rotation, three at every AGM in accordance with the written constitution which is available on request, to all members. FIVE GOOD REASONS TO ACCEPT THIS INVITATION * * * * * * 1. To help preserve the amenities of our town and to discourage anything which would tend to disturb such amenities. 2. To help further the general interests of the residents either in support of elected Council decisions or, sometimes, in resistance to those decisions. 3. To receive personal advice on matters of individual concern such as planning applications, environmental and public safety matters from members of the Executive Committee experienced on such matters. 4. To be put in touch with the appropriate local authorites or public utilities. 5. To receive four newsletters a year keeping you up to date with current affairs in the town.
