About us |
For those of you who do not know of the existence of the SRA, it was founded before World War 2 and we currently have approximately 350 paid up members. If you are not one of them and you live in Swanage, then we invite you to join. It only costs £3 a year, for which you will receive quarterly copies of our newsletter - The Independent. You are welcomed and encouraged to attend our quarterly meetings to express viewpoints and raise questions, either at these meetings or by communicating them to myself or other committee members at any other time. Quarterly meetings are announced in the local press. We always welcome more volunteers to join our committee!Members of the committee have very varied occupations and ex-occupations and are also involved with most local groups such as Swanage Railway, The Pier, Swanage Hospital, Durlston Country Park, Arts Club, The Jazz Club, Town Band, Rotary, Youth Club and more, as well as being school governors and members of the crime prevention panels etc. Between us we hold membership and interests in so many national and international organisations that I will not try to list any of them here. Free copies of our newsletter, The Independent, are available downstairs at the library (and on the Newsletters page of this site), as are membership forms. A cut-down edition of the latest Independent can often be read in the The Swanage Gazette. We hope that you'll join us.
